SME advisory benefits
Why Halvard

What you actually get from working with us

There's no shortage of business advice available. The question is whether the advice fits how your business actually works — and whether you can act on it without a dedicated team to implement it.

Six things owners consistently notice

Clearer picture of what's happening

Advisory sessions help surface patterns that are easy to miss when you're in the middle of running things. Owners often describe sessions as "finally being able to see the whole board."

A shorter, more useful to-do list

Rather than adding to your workload, sessions aim to narrow your focus to the three or four things that will actually move the business forward this month.

Written records you can act from

Every Halvard engagement produces written notes. You're not relying on memory after the session — you have something to refer back to, share with staff, or build on next time.

Advisory that fits your budget

Three engagement tiers — from RM 470 to RM 4,420 — mean you can start where it makes sense. No minimum commitment beyond what the engagement itself describes.

Grounded in Malaysian business reality

Local regulatory context, SSM norms, Klang Valley market dynamics — our advisory doesn't arrive from a foreign template. It's built from direct experience working with Malaysian SMEs.

Owner-to-owner understanding

We understand that the same person making strategic decisions is also the one fielding supplier calls and approving invoices. Advisory that ignores this reality doesn't land well.

In More Detail

What each benefit looks like in practice

Practical Expertise

Professional background

The team at Halvard has worked directly with Malaysian small businesses across multiple sectors — not as academics observing from a distance, but as practitioners who have sat across the table from owners dealing with staff problems, cash flow pressure, pricing decisions, and growth choices. That background shapes how we listen and what we notice.

  • Over 15 years working specifically with Malaysian SMEs
  • Sectors covered: services, retail, food, light manufacturing, professional practices
  • Familiar with local business registration, procurement, and compliance context

Structured Process

How sessions work

Sessions follow a consistent structure — we prepare by reviewing what you've shared, we hold the session with a clear agenda, and we follow up with written notes within 48 hours. This rhythm means you always know what to expect and nothing falls through the cracks between conversations.

  • Pre-session preparation based on your business context
  • Structured session agenda sent ahead of time
  • Written notes and agreed next steps delivered within 48 hours

Direct Communication

Service quality

You deal directly with the advisory team — not with account managers or assistants who pass messages along. When you have a question between sessions, you reach someone who knows your business and can give a useful answer. Response times are kept to one business day.

  • Direct access to the advisor handling your engagement
  • One business day response commitment for between-session queries
  • Session and document language adapted to how you communicate

Transparent Pricing

Value and cost

All fees are published and fixed. There are no surprise add-ons, no retainer lock-ins beyond the engagement you choose, and no penalty for starting small. The Check-In at RM 470 is a complete engagement on its own — useful regardless of whether you continue to a longer programme.

  • Three fixed-price options in Malaysian Ringgit
  • No hidden fees or scope creep charges
  • Check-In fee applicable toward longer engagement if you continue

Tangible Outputs

What you walk away with

Every engagement produces something you can use after the session ends. The Check-In delivers a written summary note. The Roadmap Advisory includes working templates and a phased outline. The Development Programme builds up a set of playbooks and review documents over several months of work together.

  • Written note after every engagement, minimum
  • Working templates for planning and operations (Roadmap+)
  • Playbooks and periodic review documents (Development Programme)

What Sets Us Apart

Distinctive features of how Halvard works

Upgrade credit between engagements

If you start with a Check-In and move to a Roadmap or Development Programme within 60 days, a portion of the Check-In fee is applied toward the next engagement. Starting small doesn't cost you.

English and Bahasa Malaysia

Sessions and documents can be conducted in either language, or a mix depending on what's most natural for you. Business conversations shouldn't require extra mental effort just to follow along.

In-person or remote, equally available

Our Bangsar Baru office is available for face-to-face sessions. Remote sessions by video call are fully equivalent and preferred by many owners who operate outside Kuala Lumpur or have tight schedules.

No sales agenda during advisory time

Session time is advisory time. We don't use it to pitch additional services. If we think a longer engagement would benefit you, we say so at the end — not throughout.
